Skagit Healthy Communities

Skagit Healthy Communities (SHC) is a partnership of the Skagit County Public Health Department and Skagit Valley Hospital, with broad community support to focus on increasing access to healthful nutrition and physical activity to prevent and decrease chronic disease and obesity. SHC is one of nine Healthy Communities Projects funded, in part, with a Washington State Department of Health Prevention Block Grant and eight county's selected to participate in the two-year ARRA Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity project to increase healthy foods in neighborhood grocery stores and and increase walking and biking to school through Safe Routes to School. Our project has three primary work areas: walking, biking and pathways; active community environments; and children's health.

Upper Skagit Health Clinic

The Upper Skagit Health Clinic offers prevention services to its tribal community. Analysis has shown that males in their 30s are being diagnosed with Type II diabetes and females are being diagnosed in their 50s.

Washington Association of Community and Migrant Health Centers

The Washington Association of Community & Migrant Health Centers (WACMHC) is a non-profit organization, formed in 1985, to advocate on behalf of the low-income, uninsured, and underserved populations of Washington State served by community health centers. These health centers serve low income and other persons with limited access to health care.

Washington Prescription Drug Program

WPDP is a new prescription drug discount program created by the legislature at the request of Governor Gregoire. It is open to all Washington State residents who do not have prescription drug insurance coverage, or whose insurance does not cover all their prescription drug needs. There are no other eligibility requirements or fees required for membership in the WPDP.
